It’s Bengali New Year, for the month of Boisakh, BS 1426! This issue has such things to show us, and I hope to do them at least some justice in this critique! This month’s first image shows a young woman wearing a dupatta. I like the color palette for this one, with the shawl of deep Indian Red and blouse of crimson, unless my knowledge of colors is based on mistaken assumptions, a possibility! Berlin 2 An unexpected Trip: Brian treats us to a story which cries out for further details, of a part of family history from his mother’s time in the military, a photo showing her in an Airforce Auxiliary uniform. This was brief, but enjoyable! Fruitful Quest: Raghu here gives a story of a raja’s whi

Solar Eclipse 26.12.19 from Kolkata

It was a roller-coaster ride! When we went to bed on 25 th the sky was clear as it could be, but when we woke up it was covered in cloud! Imagine the disappointment! But God certainly works in most amazing way! We missed the peak moment but the sky cleared a bit an hour later and we got a slice of the eclipse, not only that, the flimsy cover of cloud made it possible to get some fabulous shots of the eclipse. What else can I say but thank you God! Here is one of the shots that I took, will cherish the rest for a very long, long time. Already waiting for next year’s eclipse and hoping for a similar miracle. It will be in June so prayer will be really earnest! Ya know, that is the monsoon season down here! Envious about those who could see the full eclipse! Seen it once, will absolutely love to see it one more time! But chances are nada!

Things are going well, but busy, though I hope to note the high points of this month’s offering by the Authoress herself! For this month’s opening image, we’re treated to a piece showing a small boat with what appears to be a sealed clay jar, with a delightful mix of bright shades! Working Mothers: The authoress notes here the problems of raising children of women in careers in India, and gives three solutions, three horns rather than merely two, to the dilemma! India THEN – History of Goa 2: Here we are told of the first medical college in Asia, the Escola Medica Sirugica de Goa, now re
